About Olatz
Born in Spain, Olatz grew up between Paris and the elegant Spanish port town of San Sebastian. She studied design in Barcelona and was immediately immersed in the fashion world through an international career as a model for Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Calvin Klein, Azzedine Alaïa, and others.
She has been photographed by a long list of the best fashion photographers, and has travelled around the world extensively. These experiences have greatly contributed to Olatz’s romantic signature aesthetic and radiant sensibility. Originality, freedom, simplicity, and the softest materials exist in every object that Olatz makes. Her work is an inspired, iconoclastic response to a unique life.
The Olatz brand became available to the public in 2003, but Olatz has been making luxurious linens and silk apparel for well over a decade. Her designs have always been uncompromisingly personal, simple, and exquisite.
Olatz Embroidery Collections
The Olatz Embroidery Collections are all hand-stitched in Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic. The embroidery of Madeira is recognized as finest of its kind in the world.
Much like Olatz’s story, embroidery in Madeira began with the island’s first noblewomen, who needed decoration for their own household linens and clothing. The art spread to most women on the island and the skill was passed down from generation to generation. Today, the production process remains authentic, and Madeira embroidery is still entirely produced by hand.
The embroiderer works in her home, patiently and expertly stitching by hand to create a singular work of precision and beauty. Once the embroidered fabric returns to the factory, it is inspected, trimmed, washed, pressed, and finally certified for quality and perfection.
No two items of hand-embroidery are alike—each piece has the personal touch of its embroiderer and her meticulous dedication.

Olatz Apparel
Every detail, in every stitch of an Olatz design is an expression of timeless, sensual elegance. The perfect construction of these designs demands an attention and care that is rarely seen this day in age, and the Olatz brand remains loyally committed to old-world quality and textile traditions.
With the exception of our ready-to-wear apparel collection, when an order for Olatz is placed, the item does not yet exist. Each piece is made specially made for the individual, per order, by a collection of the finest artisans, seamstresses, and fabricators. Please keep this in mind when placing orders. It is simply not possible to create these exceptional products in a rush.
The Olatz apparel collection includes pajamas, robes, slips, nightgowns and nightshirts, all in the highest quality silk and made in the U.S.A., where silk production adheres to the strictest standards of environmental regulation.
Olatz Classic Collections
All Olatz bedding collections are available in our Italian linen and cotton. Our cotton is Italian-made 100% Egyptian cotton percale.
Italy is the unquestionable worldwide leader in high quality fabric and textile production. It has a very long history of excellence in the textile and fashion sectors. Very few can compare with Italians’ traditional expertise and craftsmanship.
Situated in a little textile town close to Lake Como, the factory where our linen and cotton are made is an industry leader, and has been producing exquisite household fabrics for over 50 years. They are highly specialized in the production of linen.
From the selection of fibers and yarns to the finish, each stage of the production process is thoroughly examined to ensure the finest quality construction and fabric.
Once the fabrics have been made, each item is personalized according to which Olatz collection it belongs. Shams, flat sheets, and duvet covers will be carefully piped, appliquéd, or bordered depending on each collection, and when available they may be monogrammed as well. Fabrics for embroidery collections are sent to be hand-sewn in Madeira.
